| Doh! Clutch problems suck.
I had to replace the clutch and flywheel on my 2003 Hyundai Tiburon back in 2005. It ended up costing around $2100. Fortunately, around 2008 or so, somebody filed a class action lawsuit against Hyundai over the issue, and I ended up getting a debit card for $2100. :-)

| in 2003 my 1989 Toyota Pickup had a clutch failure. Toyota replaced it free of charge: manufacturers defect. To say I was utterly amazed and shocked would be putting it mildly.
So Judge, what you do? Get a replacement truck or does your cargo sit on the dock while the tranny gets rebuilt?

So Judge, what you do? Get a replacement truck or does your cargo sit on the dock while the tranny gets rebuilt? The right thing: clutch fixed. Use another truck, rent, or cancel the load. What happened: my truck is in the yard, #726. I'm driving. #727, a pile of crap identical to mine. A 2005 9400i serries International. 730, a 2003 Freightliner Century model with a C-13 ACCERT Catapillar engine, broke down. Bad ECM, Stuck near Detroit MI, is broke. We had 4 owner operators suddenly quit. The guy driving 727 got disqualified on his medical card so he can't drive and is out of a job. I'm now running like I'm lit on fire. I'm in Joplin MO in bed right now, its 11:15 pm. I'm supposed to be in Houston TX before 1 pm. Yea right. That's 500 miles to go yet. New clutch cost: $7200 New high low range box: $6500 New Transmission: $4500 $18,200 Price of a used 2007 Frieghtliner Columbia with 102 inch dual bunk sleeper, 60 Serries Detroit, 10 speed: $18,000 to start off with...

| Aiyeee! I'm thinking someone should be looking at some newer trucks! Ya, I dunno about the US, but in Canada, 500 miles is going to take about 9-10 hours. I hope you get a tail wind, and I hope you become an owner operator real soon!
Be well!! | |

| Yea I go by averages, like, Wisconsin is 65mph, Minnesota is 70mph and so is Iowa. So this average comes out to 68mph. I have an 11 hour driving day so, 68mph x 11 hours. It changes of course day to day depending on states.
So yea, today I'm in North Little Rock Arkansas at the Petro Truck stop. A hell of a lot of air leaks in my piece of crap. I drove 726, but this week drive 727, and nothings right about the truck. Pile of crap!
I might in a month be moving onto a new company. My dads starting in 12 days there, see how it goes before I leave this one. Ill tell ya all if I flip to another company and how my schedule changes ect. I already got invited by the other carrier to work for him, he just has to buy another truck for me to drive if I did.
Dad says they have nearly new equipment, and the trucks are WAY better.
We will see. | |
