It has been a tradition in Chile ever since the late 1800's....something they are very proud of.

Yes, well they did have a lot of financial influence by the late Prussian to WWII German authority and I am not surprised that most of their traditions are now so close in nature to the Third Reich to this day.

Chile was run by a very oppressive military dictatorship, under General Augusto Pinochet from 1973 until 1990. it does not surprise me that he would like that kind of military display. The Nazi's were brutal animals and so was Pinochet.

Agreed, not to mention the fact that it was one of Mengele's favorite stops as well as other German Industrialists and ex Nazi monstrosities.
